Falsettos opened on Broadway in 1992, and was nominated for 7 Tony awards, winning two of them. March of the Falsettos takes place in 1979 and introduces us to all the characters, the dynamics and cracks in the various relationships, the blossoming of new ones and the end of others. While I enjoy being in The Other Palace, I've really enjoyed our time in the studio. The confirmed cast for Falsettos in London features Natasha J Barnes as Cordelia, Daniel Boys as Marvin, Joel Montague as Mendel, Gemma Knight-Jones as Charlotte, Laura Pitt-Pulford as Trina and Oliver Savile as Whizzer. Meanwhile Laura Pitt-Pulford’s Trina is as brilliant as ever, the jilted wife putting on a happy face for the sake of her family. Opening on August 30th for its UK premier, Falsettos, the Tony Award winning musical by William Finn (Music, Lyrics & Book) and James Lapine (Book) will have a strictly limited run until November 23rd. Falsettos takes a closer look at modern day family life and relationships that might be different, but by no means unusual or uncommon. Judging the production at face-value though, Falsettos is well sung, ultra-smart and ultimately gutting. Laura Pitt-Pulford as Trina is outstanding. Auditions can be the worst situations ever, but in this instance - which doesn't happen very often - I knew the creative team, which brought a level of comfort, and in the room, I felt very supported from early on. I'm a big fan of hers, so it was really nice to hear her on the tracks. © 2020, All Rights Reserved - The Reviews Hub, 23 November 2019 | Image: The Stand Out Company, FILM REVIEW: Identifying Features – The BFI London Film Festival 2020, FILM REVIEW: After Love – The BFI London Film Festival 2020, FILM REVIEW: Notturno – The BFI London Film Festival 2020, FILM REVIEW: Zanka Contact – The BFI London Film Festival 2020, FILM REVIEW: Limbo – The BFI London Film Festival 2020, FILM REVIEW: Rose – A Love Story – The BFI London Film Festival 2020, FILM REVIEW: Another Round -The BFI London Film Festival 2020, BRIGHTON FRINGE: Amazing Adventures of Her Majesty at 90+ – Sweet Venues: Werks 2, Living With the Lights On – Golden Goose Theatre, London, FIM REVIEW: One Man and His Shoes -The BFI London Film Festival 2020, Dick Whittington – Opera House, Manchester, Son of a Preacher Man – Theatre Royal, Plymouth, Son of a Preacher Man – New Alexandra Theatre, Birmingham, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0CL-ZSuCrQ. Putting on a show and want to tell everyone abut it?
What she goes through is quite extraordinary. I'm also enjoying playing opposite Natasha [J. Barnes] in a romantic relationship, which is something I haven't done before. He wasn't pushy, per se, but he made did make it a lot easier for me to go to auditions. Away from the arts, Jonathan is a practising Chartered Accountant with a number of clients in the entertainment industries. People aren't scared to not have a fluffy world anymore. I guess it would be great to hear more stories from around the world. We'll keep finding things, and the beauty of theatre is that we get to do it eight times a week. He enjoys reviewing new writing as much as seeing fresh interpretations of well-known plays and musicals. There's something massively different about that in that you're telling a story, but with no speech in between numbers to inform the audience you're....having an argument, say! Laura: I genuinely didn't know much about it. In terms of stories I'd personally love to tell, I'd love to play Gaston in Beauty and the Beast once day. The impact of it may have been lost, but the human insight and storylines are still as enjoyable and relatable today as when freshly printed. What's your favourite thing about who you're playing? There's unconventional love in there, HIV and AIDS are being talked about...there's so much for people to grab onto. So, I at least knew the material, but I didn't know what a beast this show is. Broken, growing, loving, unstable and a mother Pitt-Pulford discovers these nuances in Trina to make her character come alive in a very real way while delivering a powerful vocal throughout.
